The Smiley Face Project

These are pictures of all the progress that we have made on the smiley face project. We took measurements of Alex's torso and his height and then we cut out a circular piece of cardboard and painted all of it yellow and then we painted the face on with black paint using the crooked smile and eye placement. then we took another piece of cardboard the same size as the face and we put them together with small cardboard pieces. We put them together by using too much hot glue then we started working on the arm armor and the hat. We decided to use an overlapping method for the armor and the padding on the helmet. We put the arms on by taking yarn and putting hole in both pieces of the project and tying them together.

My stained glass owl finished

My Stained glass owl is now finished and the only thing that I had to do over was that I had to grind a little off of the sides and the top of the eyes. I used the foiler to put pieces of foil all around the edges so that the solder would stick to the edges of the glass. Then, I had to put flux on all the contact points and then heat up the solder and have it drip onto the edges. When it was all done, I had to wash it off and rub wax on it with a cloth.

My PacMan Project

I am thinking about doing my project in either a 2 dimensional form in just a circle or a 3 dimensional figure like a sphere and make it look a lot more like what he looks like in the games. these are the pictures that show both the 2 dimensional and the 3 dimensional figures and the really only bad thing about doing the spherical one would be that it would be more fragile and it would take a lot longer to get all the pieces together. When i figure out what one I am going to do then I can start by making the armor for the PacMan. I am going to make a mid evil suit of crusader armor that looks like it has been through some wear and tear. It will have chain armor and on top of that it will have a layer of plate armor that hides the big parts and the feet and hands.

My stained glass Owl

This is as far as I got on my stained glass owl and the main difficulty I have had with this project was cutting out the small glass pieces for the face and the top of the head for the owl. it took some time to try and find the right colors for the body and the feathers but I think that I have chosen the right colors. The part that I need to do next is take the crude cut edges to the grinder and make sure that they will fit together.

stained glass feather

This is the final product with my stained glass feather. I put copper tape on all of the sides and then I brushed on flux on all the main points. I then solder all of the points together to make them stick together and all the pieces will stick together.

The start of my pine needle basket

I have gotten to this point on my pine needle basket and i have to say that the beginning is definitely the hardest part of the basket to get going. You have to use a tool called the gauge. it is the thing that holds all of the needles in place while you tie them together. you then need to start wrapping them around each other while pulling more of them out. Once I start getting more out of the gauge then i start to put more pine needles in the other side of the gauge.
